Subject: Program recommendation: fused glass
I’ve recommended Deenie Pacik Giuliano’s fused glass classes in the past and am here to remind everyone looking for a reasonably-priced, satisfying art program. For several years, we offered her basic class in which students make a small (about the size of a 50-cent coin) glass piece that is suitable for mounting on a magnet or a pendant bail. Her classes always fill up fast and are suitable for older kids (accompanied by an adult for safety; students are working with glass powder and shards) through Senior. (Classes are available for 15 ... people because she takes the unfinished student pieces back to her studio and kiln, and the kiln holds 15 projects. She then mails the finished pieces, complete with magnet or bail, for minor assembly.)
Recently we learned that Deenie is extending her classes to include larger projects, and we hosted a workshop in which students made tealight holders/trinket dishes. Deenie’s a great teacher. Everything is precut and she emphasizes safety as much as creativity. Students learn about how glass behaves when ground, cut, and under fire. We haven’t had anyone yet who wasn’t delighted with the result.
As a fan of Deenie’s work, I recommend her to any of you looking for a fun art project with intergenerational appeal. Attached is the latest flyer from her new studio in Plainville MA.

Hello:
I am very pleased to write a character reference letter for Deenie Pacik Giuliano. I have had the pleasure of knowing Deenie for about 12 years. She has been a best friend of mine since we sang alto next to each other in a local women’s chorus when she moved to Rhode Island from Boston.
I hired her for her first workshop teaching drawing, and since have been involved in hiring her for collage workshops, as well as a fused glass pendant workshop. I am familiar with other librarians and groups that have hired her to teach fused glass pendant workshops. She has also taught many classes to other groups out of her studio. She has a good reputation as an engaging teacher who maintains professionalism.
Deenie and I have kids who are close in age, and they play together, so I have seen Deenie in almost every possible scenario. Deenie has excellent communication skills and is a good Mom.
I highly recommend Deenie...
Wishing you all the best!
Sincerely,
Andrea Hutnak

Deenie Pacik works in a medium (glass) that requires incredible dexterity, compositional sense and understanding of color and light. Deenie is a master of all aspects of this art as well as a brilliant graphic artist. What really sets her apart, however, is her personal commitment, discipline and passion for her art. She brings empathy, love and a socially conscious sense to her artwork without equivocation.

"Deenie's artwork is beautiful and reflects a special eye. She is a pleasure to work with. I am an interior

... Deenie was hired as my group's consortium coordinator on March 1, 2003. She reports to me.
… She is a creative person who takes initiative and is sensitive to others. She takes on a leadership position within the consortium. She is focused and organized. She has been able to simultaneously pursue her outside creative work while employed in this position. She is motivated and can effectively prioritize tasks.
Deenie's primary task relates to communication via phone, email and other written documents. She is a good and clear writer, and a careful editor. She has developed these skills by taking several communication classes at MIT.
Deenie has … maturity, skills, and motivation... I know that she enjoys teaching. She is relentlessly positive and cheerful and is good with people…
Sincerely,
Kent Larson
To Whom It May Concern,
Deenie Pacik taught an introductory glass fusing and slumping class that I took at Diablo Glass & Metal in the fall of 2005. I had no prior experience working with glass in any capacity, and found Deenie to be a capable and encouraging teacher. She noticed when I was struggling to cut glass on a curve and showed me easier ways to do it, offered me helpful tips and suggestions for achieving the results I wanted, and seemed to take as much delight as I did in the results of my work.
I am planning to take an advanced class in the near future and hope Deenie will be my instructor again. I feel that I’ve gained a good grounding in working with glass as a medium because of her instruction; I recommend her highly and without reservation as a teacher.
Sincerely yours,
Caryl Haddock
